KMCC "Our Daily Bread" Food Pantry

Why food panties are needed
The Kelly Miller Community Center determined a need for a food pantry in our area
After receiving numerous inquiries from community members as to whether the Kelly Miller Community Center had a food pantry, so we researched how big the need was for a food pantry in our immediate area.
Facts we discovered during our research
The Kelly Miller Community Center conducted a verbal survey with over 25 families in the Clarksburg and surrounded are determined that several families, elderly folks and homeless folks are in need of assistance with supplementing their monthly food supply.
Additionally, our research discovered that based on the US Census 14.6% of Harrison County residents are living under the poverty level, and 24.1% of Clarksburg, WV residents are living under the poverty level.
Getting The Pantry Up and Running
We had a space for the food pantry in the Kelly Miller Building, but we needed to purchase shelving, determine how to source the food, what food items were needed, who would be working the pantry to get is set up and help distribute the food.
A tiny group of volunteers worked together to plan and implement the food pantry opening.
